Q0160 - Why does OrgPublisher produce different file extensions?
Why does OrgPublisher produce different file extensions?

Each file performs a different function in OrgPublisher.
  • The .odb file is the database connection and contains table names, field mappings, etc. Opening the .odb file in OrgPublisher gets the most current data from your database and uses the formatting previously created and stored in the .otm.
  • The .otm file contains the formatting and publishing definitions of your chart.
  • The .ocb is a comma-delimited text file created when you modify data within OrgPublisher. Opening the .ocb file in OrgPublisher brings in the data and modifications stored in the comma-delimited text file. It does use the .otm for formatting.
  • The .ocp contains both data and formatting. It is the format used by the Personal Edition. Or it is one of the output files produced when you publish using the Pluginx or EChart options.
  • The .ocs is an output file for EChart publishing. The .ocs file contains the data and it gets loaded and unloaded to refresh the chart.
  • An .htm is also created when publishing using PluginX or EChart. This file checks for the appropriate version of the PluginX on the user's computer and automatically downloads it if it is not there. Then it points to the chart to open it.
  • EChart publishing also produces a .bat and a .dll file.
