Q0118 - What is the difference between Position and Position Type?
What is the difference between Position and Position Type?

In OrgPublisher, Position Type refers to a Position category (such as Manager, Employee, or Contractor).

This data is kept or brought into the chart in Field #4 from your Data Source.

When you insert a person into a chart, you are actually adding a position with a certain Position Type. OrgPublisher uses the Position Type of each person in a chart to format text and boxes.

OrgPublisher's reporting power is based on the use of Position Types.

OrgPublisher is shipped with the following eight Position Types:

  • Manager
  • Employee
  • Assistant
  • Contractor
  • Indirect Report
  • Open Position
  • Partner
  • Staff Function
  • Successor (dependent on owning OrgPublisher Premier)

With the incredible customizing that you can do with OrgPublisher, you have the option of creating an unlimited number of Custom Position Types.
